Laleh - Some Die Young

Day two of the Slottsskogen, the festival begins to take some form. Stages are in the building mode, establishments are built up slowly but surely....

Laleh Pourkarim (Persian: لاله پورکریم‎, born 10 June 1982) is an Iranian-born Swedish singer-songwriter and former actress. She uses her given name Laleh as her stage name. Following a short acting career, she entered the music industry in 2005 with her self-titled debut album which peaked at number one in Sweden and went on to become the highest selling album of the year. She has since released three further albums, all of which have been produced, written, recorded, engineered and performed by herself. She has sung in both English and Swedish, in addition to her parents’ native tongue, Persian. In 2011, she participated in the Swedish television show "Så mycket bättre", which sees a number of artists create new interpretations of the others songs. Her performances on the show were lauded by both critics and the public. Following the show, it was noted in the media that she had been given "a second breakthrough" and now she is out touring and she sells out every single concert, that's very impressive.

This lady has something to say, draws from many wells of inspiration, is cheating languages and genres, and have an almost Hair'sk sense of harmony. In the bottom of the precise rhythms, light-footed almost tiptoeing and driving swinging like a barren mountain. The eternal, sometimes almost ridiculous given melodies. Large and small in the same movement. And yes, again - harmonies. Always with grief at this time. Laleh is also able to render invisible "artist" for the artwork is so bright in itself. Rarely, she stands in the way of the essence, and yet every second of deeply personal.

Laleh plays on Azalea sat 18:45

Todays tune "Some Die Young" is the lead single from her fourth studio album, Sjung (Swedish for "Sing"). The song has been credited as an unofficial soundtrack for those who lost people in the 2011 Norwegian attacks, with newspaper articles, university lectures and a number of fan videos to this effect emerging.
